🔍 What Does ALARM-04 Mean?

The PLC continuously monitors the incoming air pressure using a pressure switch. If the pressure falls below 0.5 MPa, the controller immediately stops machine operation and displays Alarm-04.

This safety feature prevents:

  • Pneumatic cylinders from failing to complete their stroke

  • Pressure rollers from operating incorrectly

  • Trimming units from malfunctioning

  • Glue station failures

  • Unexpected machine damage

âš ī¸ Why Proper Air Pressure Is Important

NikMann edge banders use compressed air to operate numerous pneumatic components, including:

  • End trimming unit;

  • Fine trimming unit;

  • Guilotine;

  • Corner rounding unit;

  • All phneumatic cylinders.

✅ Common Causes of Alarm-04

  1. 1. Air Compressor Is Switched Off

    • The simplest cause is that the compressor is not running. Check: Compressor pressure gauge

  2. 2. Compressor Pressure Is Too Low

    • Many compressors are set incorrectly or require more time to build pressure. If the compressor pressure is below 6 bar, wait until it reaches operating pressure.

  3. 3. Air Hose Is Disconnected

    • Inspect the air supply hose between the compressor and the edge bander.

  4. 4. Air Filter Regulator Is Set Too Low

    • Every NikMann edge bander includes a filter regulator assembly. Check the regulator gauge.

  5. 5. Air Leak

    • Air leaks are among the most common causes of pressure loss. Listen carefully for escaping air.

  6. 6. Faulty Pressure Switch

    • If the machine has sufficient pressure but still displays Alarm-04, the pressure switch may have failed.
